Using the Trinamool Congress determining to stop the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sees an chance to corner the ruling coalition and it is likely to have to have a special session of Parliament to go over the problem of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail nevertheless its key ally Janata Dal (United) isn't towards this move.
The BJP states it feels the federal government won't last its full term till 2014 when the Trinamool Congress goes ahead using its decision to exit the UPA.
Senior party leader L K Advani stated his party would really like a unique session to become organized to go over this problem, holding the government has committed a "breach of trust" of Parliament.
The party, however, stated it'll consult its allies of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after tomorrow's countrywide agitation against FDI in retail and diesel cost hike before firming up its position.
"Yesterday's development has destabilized the current government. It is just dependent on whose will collapse. The current government cannot last its full term till 2014. Many things can happen before that," Mr. Advani told Press Trust Asia.
He stated because the then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had guaranteed both in houses of Parliament that the conclusion on FDI in retail wouldn't be taken before changing a consensus with all of stakeholders, the federal government had committed a "breach of trust of Parliament".
"The promise have been designed to each house of Parliament through the then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee that we'll not bring FDI in retail until a consensus is developed with all of stakeholders including all political parties and all sorts of Chief Ministers. Therefore, we hold the announcement of FDI in retail is really a breach of trust of Parliament," Mr Advani stated.
He stated "therefore, we'd request convening of the special session of Parliament. We'll create a formal request towards the Leader for that special session following the September 20 nation-wide bandh known as by us."
Requested whether there's an excuse for convening a unique session of Parliament, JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav stated there's "no need" for this as it won't solve any difficulty.
BJP representative Prakash Javadekar stated "our leader L. K. Advani has stated that people can have to have a special session of Parliament around the problem because the Pm had guaranteed on the ground of the home that it is really an era of federalism and when we bring FDI in retail, we'll try to develop a consensus before".
"We in NDA will choose whether or not to convene a unique session of Parliament... We'll decide in the NDA meeting after tomorrow's countrywide bandh," he stated.
