Alex Strategos was lonely and searching for love as he met Melissa Friedrich, the so-known as “Internet Black Widow,” with an internet dating service.
They talked, after which she found meet him at his Florida home. They went for supper and she or he moved in immediately.
Mr. Strategos, a divorced and upon the market accountant from Pittsburgh, was smitten using the Canadian lady he'd just met. He referred to her like a “very classy lady.”
Within an interview on Tuesday from Pinellas Park, Fla., the 81-year-old also stated she would be a “fine actress.”
Throughout their relationship, he signed over energy of attorney to her, which enabled her to consider $18,000 from him. In 2005, Ms. Friedrich pleaded guilty to charges including grand thievery from the person 65 years or older, forgery and taking advantage of a forged document. She offered 5 years inside a Florida jail.
“Then she was shipped to Canada and that i thought she resided happily ever after which maybe it was,” Mr. Strategos stated.
Less than Ms. Friedrich, 77, who's now referred to as Melissa Days, was billed in Sydney, N.S., with attempted murder and “administering a poisonous factor.”
She made an appearance in provincial court and was remanded in custody of the children until Friday for any show-cause hearing. The remand warrant states that she isn't to possess any connection with Fred Days, her new husband, except through a lawyer.
The costs, based on a release from Cape Breton Regional Police, derive from “an analysis in to the well-being check up on a 75-year-old New Glasgow male, who had been accepted towards the North Sydney General Hospital.”
Based on news reviews, Mr. Days grew to become ill once the couple were on their own honeymoon and was come to the Cape Breton hospital. Police were known as “as a direct result suspicion round the man’s illness,” law enforcement report states. Everybody a medication was discovered in the system, but wouldn't identify it.

“While I had been within the hospital once, I had been very weak and she or he introduced a couple of my neighbors to obtain a energy of attorney signed, that we did, and that’s how she got our money,” he stated, adding the total amount was $18,000. He stated the financial institution refunded him later.
Mr. Strategos thinks he was handed “some type of drug” in the dish of frozen treats. It was not until he was put in a relaxation home that the drug - benzodiazepine - was discovered in the system and the boy grew to become suspicious.
